A few years ago, John DeCicco Jr., Luisa DeCicco and family embarked on a guided tour of the Oliviero Chocolate Egg Factory in Avellino, Italy. They got to witness the full production of a delicious Chocolate Egg, from the chocolate being poured into the egg-shaped mold all to the treat finally being wrapped in its colorful foil. It was a fun and educational experience for all, and a particularly special treat for their young children, Gianni and Elena!

Many Italians and Italian-Americans are familiar with these special egg confections, which are made from the finest Italian chocolate, each with their own nougat surprise on the inside. DeCicco & Sons is proud to carry these Chocolate Eggs in our stores for Easter, continuing a tradition enjoyed by many people, both young and old. If you’ve never had a chance to try one, we highly suggest you bring one home this weekend and give it a try: Maybe it will be the beginning of a delicious new tradition for your family!

In 2018, we imported more eggs than we ever have in the past; more than 2500 chocolate eggs! Our supply and the demand for these eggs has increased every year since we started bringing them in. These eggs do sell out so make sure you grab them while you can! Buona Pasqua!
